Expert Network 2010-03-12 - Change recommended
Board 2010-04-09 - Recommendation accepted
BACKGROUND
Cochlea implant surgery is increasingly performed as day surgery. Current grouping logic doesn’t reflect this, and same day visits are grouped in an unspecific manner. Independent of LOS, the implant cost is the main cost driver for these case types. It is therefore no need for establishing a new DRG for this kind of day surgery. Instead, cases should be grouped to DRG 49B independent of LOS.
Proposal
Add rule for DRG 49B so that cases with LOS= 1 day are grouped the same way as longer stays.
COMMENTS
Expert Network 2010-03-12
The meeting recommended accepting the proposal with a new solution. All Cochlea implant should be grouped to the same DRG. No matter of the length of stay the cost is the same. A new short therapy rules for Cochlea implant which leads to DRG 49B.
This change will not affect Sweden.
CHANGES
Technical change
The current rule ORD 403D001 is moved to the short therapy logic of NordDRG before the first MDC 3 rule (currently to ORD 103D00000). ORD 103D000200 shall be removed.
DRG change
Cases with DFSE00 ‘Insertion of cochlear implant’ are assigned to DRG 49B irrespective of duration of hospital contact.
