PROBLEM

CPK ID 321

We have noticed that the NASS codes for Defecation functions are principally wrong. They all start with the letter “a” but to get the desired association to the ICF codes they should start with the letter “b”. In Sweden they then should start with the letters “UB”. See the table below.

We have also noticed that the text for the code a3294 (Communication - receivng messages with total dependency) is wrong in two ways. “Communication” should be changed to “Communicating” like all other codes beginning with a329 and “receiving” should be spelled correctly.
All the codes beginning with a349 have a text beginning with “Communicating” but to get the desired association to the ICF codes they should start with the word “Communication”, since they all are about producing messages.

These errors could be corrected by the Nordcase Centre without discussion with the expert group.

Codes for Urination functions are mentioned in the NASS manual but they are also wrong (they stand for defecation functions) and they are not able to register since they are not included in the NordDRG definition tables. The table below shows the new codes that should be inserted in the definition tables for year 2010. This error could also be corrected by the Nordcase Centre without discussion with the expert group. So far we don’t suggest any grouping properties for the new codes.

The NASS codes beginning with a550 stand for eating functions according to the code texts but in the NASS manual they also stand for drinking functions. We want separate codes for drinking functions, similar to the ICF system. The table below shows the new codes that should be inserted in the definition tables for year 2010. This could also be done by the Nordcase Centre without discussion with the expert group. The suggested grouping properties are identical to the eating function codes but the text to dgprop 23F02 has to be changed to “Severe dependency in eating or drinking”.
