This complication category is used only for the code pair G0210 ‘Meningitis in mycoses’ + B3840 ‘Coccidioidomycosis meningitis (G02.1*)’ that is so called fixed pair. Only Finish ICD-10 includes the code in the current listing of diagnoses.
Both G0210 and B3480 are complicating diagnoses (G0210 – COMPL 01C25/B3480 - 18G05).
The only exclusion for 01C33 is G0210 and even that is not included in all versions.
The complication category 01C33 does not add anything to the grouping and can be removed as soon as possible.

Complication category 01C33 is removed from G0210+B3480 in DG1 table and from G0210 in KOMPLEX table (if it exists). As this is the only occurrences of 01C33 it will disappear from the defintion tables.
No effect on grouping.

These changes has not been done for 2015, at least not in the Swedish definitiontables. This means that it has to be done for 2016. There might be somthing that I do not understand.
In the Swedish definitiontables the COMPL 01C33 is only to be found for G021*B384+ Meningit vid andra infektions- och parasitsjukdomar som klassificeras annorstädes. If this compl 01C33 Coccidioidomycosis is removed will it not need to be removed from the table "compl. cat." and when looking at the table "compl. excl" there are 43 rows with 01C33 and the same amount of rows with 03G33. Are these rows removed automatically in Fox-Pro?
To be discussed on the meeting 12-13 march 2015.

This case was discussed at the Expert Network meeting 2016-03-14 - 15 because Sweden had noticed that 01C33 is still present in the tables ‘compl cat’ and ‘compl excl’ in NdrgSWE2016PR0 (Excel version). Instructions for correction are in the attached file Case #344 - Technical changes for version 2017.xlsx.

The compl. cat 01C33 'Coccidioidomycosis meningitis' is not in use since no dx belongs to this category. For some it exists on the exclusion list. This obviously has no effect on DRG assignment but is unnecessary. This should be removed automatically and I will check that this happens.
