Description

Problem
The complication exclutions of codes that are used by all (national) versions affect all versions using that code. Thus a forum discussion is necessary for all such cases.
Example:
Sweden wants to remove ‘the exclusion for complication category 01C16 ‘CVA, unspecified’ from E1080 ‘Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus with unspecified complications’ and E1170 ‘Non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus with multiple complications’.
Quite peculiarly E1070 and E1180 do not belong to the exclusion list of 01C16. Nor any other diabetes diagnosis code.
It seems that this is a minor error that can be corrected immediately but must still be reported on the forum.
Suggestion
Technical change
E1080 and E1170 are removed from the complication category exclusion list for 01C15
DRG change
Theoretical correction of assignment to complicated category instead of uncomplicated.
